What this laboratory video demonstrates
Immersion testing evaluates a different failure path from rain or spray exposure. Water pressure acts continuously on seals, cable entries and mating interfaces and may penetrate small voids that remain dry during a short jet test. This video shows EBC's pressure immersion equipment for controlled testing of connector and wire harness sealing performance.
Why this test matters
IPX7 uses defined temporary immersion conditions, while IPX8 conditions are agreed according to the product and application requirements. The complete test setup—including sample orientation, cable preparation, water depth or pressure, time and post-test inspection—must therefore be documented. Electrical checks can identify moisture-related leakage that may not be visible externally.
