Water protection requirements vary from splashing rain to powerful water jets. Why this test matters
A successful enclosure rating depends on the complete assembly, not only the connector housing. Cable entry geometry, seal compression, terminal population, backshells and manufacturing variation can all create leakage paths. Inspection and electrical checks after exposure help determine whether the tested assembly maintained the protection expected for its intended installation.
