What this laboratory video demonstrates
Rapid temperature transitions place strong expansion and contraction loads on conductors, crimps, seals, housings and insulation. This video introduces the two-chamber thermal shock equipment used by EBC to move test samples quickly between hot and cold zones, creating a more severe temperature-change condition than a slow conventional chamber cycle.
Why this test matters
Thermal shock testing can reveal cracks, loss of seal compression, contact-resistance drift, plating damage and interface movement caused by mismatched material expansion. Comparing electrical and mechanical performance before and after exposure helps determine whether a wire harness or connector design can tolerate repeated starts, shutdowns and extreme environmental transitions.
